This is the first book in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, in this book the Baudelaire orphans face their evil relative, Count Olaf, for the first time. After a terrible fire kills their parents, they're forced to move in with Count Olaf, whom afterwards makes a priority of making thier lives miserable, trying to kill them in order to get the fortune due to them, when they come of age. In this book Count Olaf goes to extreme means in attempt to get thier fortune, as extreme even, as trying to marry Violet!

"The Reptile Room"
In this, the second book of A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, the orphans begin to see a glimpse of happiness in their unfortunate lives. They are sent to live with their Uncle Monty, yet after a short time Count Olaf again shows his evil face, causing havoc on Uncle Monty, and the orphans.

"The Wide Window"
The third book, in this chapter in the unfortunate lives of the Baudelaire orphans, they face a hurricane, hungry leeches, cold cucumber soup, a doll named Pretty Penny, and much, much more. Once again, of coarse, Count Olaf shows his trecherous face, and causes the Baudelaires to be filled with misery and dispair.

"The Miserable Mill"
The Baudelaire's now must face being sent to a lumbermill, having to work for their stay there, being sent to a hypnotist, and yet again, Count Olaf. There is a terrible accident resulting in a tragic injury, and off coarse, not much happiness for the Baudelaire orphans.

"The Austere Academy"
You may imagine a boarding school to be a delightful place, but for the Baudelaire orphans, it is anything but delightful. Within this book they must face a very mean vice principle, violin recitals, dripping fungus, and a very rude little girl that torments the Baudelaire' their entire stay at the boarding school. Although, on one happy note in the Baudelaire's lives, while they're away at boarding school they meet some of their best friends, Duncan and Isadora Quagmire.

"The Ersatz Elevator"
In this, the sixth book in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, the Baudelaire's are sent to live with their relatives, and face a darkened staircase, a red herring, an "In" auction, a secret passagway, AND an evil scheme. They also much face a dark and scary trip that most of us would be terrified to take, to rescue their friends.

"The Vile Village"
Here the Baudelaire's are sent to live in the town of V.F.D., and must fight away from an angry mob, escape from jail, face a flock of migrating crows, deal with a false newspaper headline, and much more. They do find one decent person in the town of V.F.D., which you will find out about when you read it.

"The Hostile Hospital"
The eighth book in the chronicals of the Baudelaire's lives, THE HOSTILE HOSPITAl, is full of evil and trechery. While having to live in the open, unfinished wing of a hospital, they must search through records, save one of their siblings from an unnessisary surgery, unscramble anagrams, and find out news about a fire... And of coarse, once again, Count Olaf is most definately behind it all.

"The Carnivorous Carnival"
In this, the 9th, and newest book in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, the orphans but live as carnival freaks, avoiding being fed to lions, make friends that they must attempt to save later, sneak into a fortune teller's tent, and escape an unruley crowd. This is a very exciting adventure in the lives of the Baudelaire's, that you most definately don't want to pass up.

"The Unathorized Autobiography"
This book was very "mysterious", if you were looking for a book that helped to answer the many questions about Lemony Snicket, or "A Series of Unfortunate Events" .. This book isn't that one. It's very entertaining though. And very interesting.
